Community schools play an important role in supporting local neighborhoods. They focus not only on students' academic success but also on the well-being of students and their families.
On November 23, 2024, JMB staff, student volunteers, and Mountaire worked together to provide over 100 Thanksgiving food boxes to local families, helping them enjoy a meaningful holiday. This effort highlights how community schools create a culture of care and support.

Last Friday sixteen of our Concert Choir students participated in the Wicomico All County Chorus festival. They spent the day rehearsing with students from all of the other high schools in the county and performed in a concert that evening. It was a great day of choral music and another reminder of why Wicomico County is consistently named as a Best Community for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.

Students had the opportunity to enjoy a soul food tasting, connecting them to the rich culinary history we’ve been studying. Complementing this, two HBCU graduates shared their experiences and career paths, highlighting the transformative role HBCUs play in education and leadership. The students were deeply engaged, having thoughtfully prepared pre-written questions and gaining valuable cultural insights.
