Computer Science Education Week

CSEdWeek is an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners to the field.
The CSEdWeek theme for 2023 is Impacts of Computing. This year, we will explore the exploding realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the impact it is having on our lives. #cs4md #impactsOfComputing
So get ready for an AI filled week. How has AI already affected your life?
JMB will be holding a Polar Express Family Movie Night on Friday December 15, 2023 at 6:00pm in the JMB Auditorium.
JMB Students and their families are invited to come out in your PJs and enjoy a movie with popcorn, cookies, and hot cocoa.
Preregistration for this event is required, and the JMB Student must show ID at admission. Middle school students or younger must have a parent present.

The JMB Administration and the SGA have teamed up to celebrate the 12 Days before Winter break.
The countdown to winter break begins on Tuesday December 5th, when JMB will have a RED OUT. Other activities are planned daily until the final school day before winter break -- which is Wednesday December 20th. See the full calendar here.

The winter sports season tips off on Tuesday December 5th.
🏀 Boys Basketball leads the way at home against Queen Annes on Tuesday December 5th JV 4:30, Varsity 6:30pm.
🏀 Girls Basketball starts the season with mostly away games, their home opener is Tuesday December 19th against Snow Hill at JV 4:30, Varsity 6:30pm.
🤼 Wrestling opens their season on December 6th at 5pm against North Dorchester at home.
🏃 Indoor track has their first meet on Wednesday December 6th at 2pm at the Worcester County Recreation Center in Snow Hill.
🏋️ Unified Strength and Conditioning opens their season on December 14th.

Seniors: Do you still need a senior yearbook formal photo? This is the last opportunity available to make this happen! Sessions will take place on Friday December 8, 2023 during periods 1 & 2 the Media Center at James M. Bennett High School. This is a complementary service provided by Jen Seay Seniors.

The Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services invites parents of students with disabilities to the November Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC) meeting. The meeting will be held on Nov. 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. The hybrid meeting will take place in the auditorium of Parkside High School. Please contact Lavon Adkins, Family Support Facilitator, at laadkins@wcboe.org for the Zoom link if you wish to join virtually. Participants will receive updates from the Office of Special Education and a presentation on secondary transition. If your child is 14 years or older, you will not want to miss this information-packed meeting. Participants will receive a copy of the Maryland State Department of Education: Family Information Series.

The Air National Guard will be at JMB for an information session on Wednesday November 29th . The Air National Guard is a part time service, that offers free college tuition. Interested students should sign up in Guidance Office.

This week has been Hunger and Homeless awareness week.
During this season of thanks, we know there are many in need. This includes students in our community. Assistance is available for Unaccompanied youth, or those students not living in the physical custody of a parent or legal guardian.
